Following their collaboration on the “HOME” project earlier in 2018, FUJIFILM North America Corporation has once again teamed up with Magnum Photographer David Alan Harvey to offer the FUJIFILM Young Talent Award as part of Burn Magazine’s Emerging Photographer Fund (EPF). This award is open to any photographer aged 25 or under that enters the magazine’s existing Emerging Photographer Grant. The deadline for submissions is September 30, 2018, so entrants need to be quick.
The EPF aims to recognize the work of the most gifted new photographers and provide funding to help them nurture their talent and progress their careers, and with a list of previous winners enjoying continued success it is clear that this is a very worthy cause. The Fund was made possible by a generous donation from Michael Lloyd Young through the Magnum Foundation and Fujifilm is extremely proud to add to this with the Young Talent Award.
To enter the EPF, photographers must upload a body of work, be it journalistic or artistic, which will be judged by a panel of experts. The selected winner will be awarded a $10,000 grant to support the continuation of this project or their emerging career. Any entrant aged 25 or under is automatically eligible for the FUJIFILM Young Talent Award, which also totals $10,000.
Fujifilm also partnered with David and the Magnum Foundation in March 2018, when they collaborated on a major project that explored the subject of ‘home’. The “HOME” exhibition is touring seven cities worldwide and involves the work of 15 Magnum Photographers that were given an open brief to explore the theme of “HOME” through their own individual practices. The resulting work is their fascinating personal take on a subject that we are all intimately familiar with.
