An eighth lens for the FUJIFILM GFX system, a long telephoto lens, has been announced.
The FUJIFILM GFX system lens roadmap, which lists future lens releases for the GFX medium format camera system, has been updated to include details of a new telephoto lens, the GF250mmF4 R LM OIS WR, and a dedicated 1.4x teleconverter. Both are expected to hit the shelves midway through 2018.
The GF250mmF4 R LM OIS WR is a weather-resistant telephoto prime lens with an angle of view equivalent to 198mm lens on a 35mm film camera. Its F4 maximum aperture gives photographers lots of control over depth-of-field, for powerful portraits that isolate a pin-sharp subject against a soft, blurred background.
To accompany the GF250mmF4 comes the GF1.4X TC WR teleconverter, which changes the lens into a 350mmF5.6 – the equivalent of a 277mm in 35mm film photography.
These announcements bring the number of lenses available in the GF system to eight, covering focal lengths of 23mm to 350mm. In a statement, FUJIFILM said that it would continue to produce technology for the GFX system, which “reinvigorates passion for photography”.
