Fujifilm has unveiled a new telephoto prime lens and 1.4x teleconverter, a dream combination for sports and wildlife photographers. The XF200mmF2 R LM OIS WR is a super-fast telephoto lens offering the equivalent to a 305mm in 35mm film format and a maximum aperture of F2 for beautiful bokeh.
Constructed from robust but lightweight magnesium alloy, the lens barrel is sealed in 17 places to resist dust, moisture and temperatures down to 14°F. The XF200mm also features intuitive Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), which offers five stops of compensation and optimizes settings based on how the lens is being used (for panning or on a tripod, for example).
Autofocusing is handled by fast, silent, and highly accurate linear motors. A new Focus Preset function instantly selects focus at a specific distance, while the Focus Range Selector limits shooting distance to improve focus accuracy when shooting subjects 5m or further from the camera. A Focus Control button on the end of the lens, meanwhile, can be assigned to a function of your choice.
The lens will be available in late October 2018 as a kit with the new FUJINON XF1.4X TC F2 WR teleconverter. The teleconverter shares the lens’s same weather-resistant design and multiplies the focal range by 1.4x to offer an equivalent focal length of 427mm. Light transmission is reduced by one stop to provide a maximum aperture of F2.8.
