FUJIFILM Corporation has confirmed that all X Series cameras are now fully compatible with Elinchrom’s ELB 500 TTL flash system. This is great news for X Series photographers who want to add to their lighting set-up, whether they are intending to create striking outdoor portraits, razor-sharp action shots, or anything else imaginable.
Compatibility with the ELB 500 TTL system comes via the use of the Elinchrom Skyport Transmitter PRO, and this has been much anticipated by the Fujifilm community as the Elinchrom system has won praise for its size, weight, power, and creative modes. As full compatibility is ensured via the Skyport Transmitter PRO, Fujifilm users will be able to use the Elinchrom ELB 500 TTL’s HSS (High Speed Sync) and TTL (Through the Lens) modes without compromise.
The HSS mode allows the use of the flash at shutter speeds which are faster than the camera body’s Flash Sync mode, for instance 1/250 sec on the FUJIFILM X-T3. The transmitter automatically detects which shutter speed to use up to 1/8000 sec with any TTL enabled unit that contains Elinchom’s built-in Skyport protocol.
The TTL mode is used to automatically set the optimum flash power, which saves time. Users can then use the Manual Lock to hold that power level, allowing them to bias the camera’s exposure for creative effects.
The Elinchrom Skyport Transmitter PRO will be available from September 18, 2018.
