Summer Firmware Updates for the FUJIFILM X-H1, X-T2, and X-Pro2

Some of Fujifilm’s most advanced X Series cameras have been given a firmware update designed to help photographers stay organized with their image files. The X-Pro2 will also receive several other features that bring its specifications in line with other X Series models.

After updating their FUJIFILM X-H1 and X-T2 cameras to firmware Ver.1.11 and 4.2 respectively, photographers will be able to specify a location on their memory cards where photos and video clips are stored. It will also be possible to create new subfolders in camera.

The X-Pro2 will also receive the following functionality after updating to firmware Ver.5.00:

  • Enlarged information and icons. The information shown in the camera’s viewfinder, or on its touchscreen, can be enlarged to aid readability. The layout of the data displays can also be customized.
  • Enhanced Phase Detection AF. The latest updates to the camera’s AF algorithm enable greater speed and precision in low light (down to -1EV), and when lenses with maximum apertures of F11 are used (such as the XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR with a XF2X TC WR teleconverter). Major improvements have also been made to the camera’s AF-C mode, which now allows faster, more accurate focusing while zooming – great for anyone shooting sports or wildlife, for example.
  • Flicker Reduction. This upgrade improves exposure accuracy when shooting under artificial lighting, which can flicker at very high frequencies. With Flicker Reduction switched on, the X-Pro2 will capture pictures only at peak brightness, providing more consistent shot-to-shot exposures.
  • Back up camera settings with FUJIFILM X Acquire. It’s now possible to store and restore camera settings when using the X-Pro2 by connecting the camera to a PC or Mac running FUJIFILM X Acquire software with a USB cable.
