The FUJIFILM X-T3 and GFX 50R cameras have been recognized in the DPReview Product of the Year Awards, cementing this X Series camera and its portable medium format cousin’s position at the forefront of the mirrorless camera market.
Best Consumer Stills/Video Camera
The X-T3 was named as the Best Consumer Stills/Video Camera, and runner-up in the Best Midrange ILC and Product of the Year 2018 categories.
DPReview praised the X-T3’s image quality and video capabilities, saying: “The X-T3’s image quality at low and medium ISO sensitivities gives a lot of full frame cameras a run for their money, and its 4K video features are very competitive.”
Going on to highlight the X-T3’s ability to capture 4K/60p footage in 10-bit as a big draw, DPReview named the camera as a big player in the market. “Fujifilm didn’t need to make the X-T3 as good as it is – Fujifilm didn’t even need to replace the X-T2 yet – but they did, and they did. The resulting camera is one of the best APS-C format ILCs money can buy, even rivaling some full frame models. The X-T3 is the clearest indication yet that Fujifilm has well and truly joined the game.”
Best High-End ILC
There was also praise for the GFX system, with the GFX 50R named as runner-up in the DPReview Best High-End ILC category. Here’s what they had to say about Fujifilm’s newest medium format camera:
“This year’s runner-up spot is taken by the camera with the biggest sensor of all – the FUJIFILM GFX 50R. Designed for active photographers, the GFX 50R takes the best bits of the GFX 50S and packages them in a smaller, more affordable rangefinder-style body.” They added that medium format “has never looked more attractive.”
Fujifilm is extremely proud of these results and hopes they are the beginning of a long list of awards for its two newest products. To find out more about the X-T3 and GFX 50R, visit the X Gear Chooser and GFX Gear Chooser now.
